Dad: Hi daughter.
Me: Yes, Dad, I’m quite busy.
Dad: Busy doing what?
Me: Busy doing what you sent me to do — praying, talking to my siblings, and conducting meetings with my fellow gold carriers.
Dad: But you have not had time to sit on my lap and feel my heartbeat?
Me: Dad, I will come later. I have to fulfill this passion burning inside of me.
Dad: (smiling) Who placed that passion there? Was it not I?
He continued:
“Daughter, I would liken you to a reservoir filled with water, where people come to draw. But one thing about a reservoir is this: if it is not continually refilled, it will soon run dry and lose its relevance. And I am the only one who can refill you. Renewal is not optional — it is vital. A lack of it could be deadly.”
The illustration Dad gave me was too real to ignore. I was deeply touched and had to mellow.
He said,
“Sit, and let me teach you more principles you don’t yet know, because your path is meant to shine brighter and brighter.”
I sat with Him, and He taught me many things. But one principle stood out above all:
“Meetings don’t make men; fellowship with Me makes men.”
He said,
“Don’t trade your fellowship with Me for activities. I need you to continually rest in My arms so I can show you how to lead. You will raise My banner, and I will lead the people through the gates through you — but My place in your life must never be underestimated.”
After our conversation, I decided to sing a duet with my Dad:
Me: That I may dwell daily in Your presence and know You more.
Dad: I long for that from you always.
Me: That I may love You always.
Dad: You show your love for Me by keeping My commandments.
Me: I will keep Your commandments.
Dad: Then I will prosper you and make you a wonder to your generation.
A Word to My Fellow Gold Carriers:
Do not exchange your fellowship with God for mere activities. It could be detrimental.
Desire more of Him daily, and He will direct your steps.
He will take you to places where human wisdom cannot lead you, because fellowship with Him generates divine wisdom for exceeding exploits.
